Parts We Carry
Huguley is a small place - about 1,046 households - which means we're not stocking the truck for a hundred different door models. Most of the houses here went up around 1977, and that narrows things down. We carry torsion springs sized for the standard 7-foot sectional doors that were common builders' stock in that era, along with the steel rollers, end bearing plates, and extension spring cable that fail first on doors that old. We also keep a run of replacement opener logic boards and sensor pairs on hand, since a lot of original openers from that period have been swapped out once or twice already by the time we see them. What we don't keep on the truck is anything custom - a door with a non-standard width or a high-end insulated panel ordered specifically for one house. Those get special-ordered, and that part isn't something we can speed up.
Can You Do This Yourself
Swapping a roller or tightening a loose track bracket is reasonable if you're comfortable on a ladder and the door is already down. A torsion spring is not in that category - it's wound under enough tension to break a wrist or worse, and on the older setups you'll find in a lot of Huguley's 1970s-era houses, the drums and cable drum sizing aren't always standard, which makes winding it back correctly harder than it looks from a video. Opener work is usually fine to leave to us too, not because it's dangerous but because a lot of these homes still run original or first-replacement openers with no modern safety reversal wiring, and we want to see that before anything gets reconnected. If your door is sagging on one side or the cable has jumped the drum, call before you touch it.
Getting It Booked In
We run out of Opelika, about 15 miles from Huguley, so there's no local branch or drop-in counter here - you call, we schedule, and the truck comes to you. That distance doesn't change what we carry or how the job gets done; it just means the visit is planned rather than a walk-in. If you've already had a look and know it's a spring, a cable, or an opener issue, mentioning that when you call helps us load the right parts before we leave the shop. For anything that looks like it needs a part we don't carry - an odd-width door or a discontinued opener model - we'll tell you that up front rather than make a second trip.
